Although we attend several smaller Bike runs throughout the season, our main focus is on the annual run for the War Dogs Scholarship Fund. We strive to make this run a large success, and we are confident that we can grow the run larger every year.
The Scholarship Fund will be distributed annually to a full time student who is the son or daughter of a Military Veteran, Police Officer or Firefighter who was injured or killed in the line of duty. At the collection table for the run, we will always invite a Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and a Local or State Police Officer to oversee the collection process. Both representatives will be asked to sign documents stating the exact amount of money collected for that run. Only documented administrative costs of the run itself will be deducted from this amount. One Hundred percent of the remaining money will go into the Scholarship Fund to be set up in a separate bank account at Fidelity Bank in Carnegie, PA.
The applicant can apply for the scholarship by emailing us a short biography / essay. The biography / essay should explain why the applicant feels he/she is a good candidate for the scholarship money. They can email this information to us, or give a hard copy of the information to any Member of the War Dogs Motorcycle Club.
The selection panel shall use any criteria they deem appropriate in selecting the recipient of the scholarship.
A three member panel will be elected to determine how to award the scholarship money. The panel will consist of one Member of the War Dogs Mother Chapter, one Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and one Police Officer.
The checks for the recipients of the scholarship will be written and sent directly to the educational institution that the recipient is attending.
